Do you want to learn how to use spreadsheets but have been too nervous to take your first steps?
If so, help is a t hand. Dunedin Community Accounting is offering a free 2 hour workshop for absolute beginners. You’ll be taken through creating a cashbook. From opening up the programme to adding in formulas to do the adding up for you.
The 2 hour hands on workshop is in Room D202 of Block D of Otago Polytechnic, Harbour Terrace, Dunedin at 7pm on Tuesday 8 October.
The workshop will use Microsoft Excel but what you learn will set you in good stead with free alternatives like LibreOffice, OpenOffice.org or Google Drive and paid alternatives like Apple’s Numbers.

Te Taketake two year NZQA Level 6 Diploma in Applied Addictions Counselling has opened registrations for 2014.
The course is offered by Moana House Training Institute and is DAPAANZ recognised.
This diploma combines Te Aka (Year 1) and Te Rea (Year 2) with the addition of Te Hauhakenga, practical work and Competencies – the bicultural training takes place on seven Friday to Sunday wānanga through the year. There’s a further wānanga for assessment.
The South Island course starts on 21 February 2014.
A training programme in working with Pacific peoples will also available in Dunedin in 2014.
