Social inequality and boarding houses

Max Rashbrooke is a journalist who covers politics, finance, and social issues. Earlier this month he was interviewed by Kim Hill on Radio New Zealand National, about his experiences living in a boarding house for three weeks.

Many of our poorest people live in boarding houses. For some of us, they are just home. For those of us with better homes, many can look and smell pretty dreadful – which isn’t surprising given there are no specific minimum standards for private boarding houses in New Zealand.

Max also about the book he is writing on income inequality in New Zealand.
