Council of Social Services (Dunedin) announce new Executive Officer

At yesterday’s Council of Social Services Dunedin 33rd Annual General Meeting, the appointment of Mr. Alan Shanks was announced as its new Executive Officer.

Mr Shanks has been with the organisation for the past 8 years as the Membership & Support Manager.

Having lived in Dunedin all his life, he has a passion for the wellbeing of people in the community and acknowledges that Dunedin is a great city to live in. Mr Shanks comes from a commercial back ground including banking and hospitality and has been involved in community service in a voluntary capacity for over 34 years.

He is the recipient of a “Priory Vote of Thanks” one of St John’s highest awards of service in their administration.

He recently completed a Graduate Diploma in Not for Profit Management from Unitec in Auckland, and is currently a trustee for the Saddle Hill Foundation Trust, as well as an Executive board member for  the New Zealand Council Social Services and MS Otago.
