A special Public Square discussion devoted to what must be one of the most pressing concerns in New Zealand today – the appalling record of child maltreatment and death in this country, and what should be done about it.
Joining Professor Andrew Bradstock in the University’s AV Studio will be an expert panel including Chris Trotter, Professor Mark Henaghan (Dean of Law, Otago, and specialist on laws protecting children), Jenny Munro (Otago Youth Wellness Trust, who works directly with some of the most troubled of Dunedin’s children and families), and Dr Pauline Gulliver (Injury Prevention Research Unit, Otago University, who recently co-authored an international comparative study on the maltreatment of children in such ‘progressive’ nations as Canada, the UK and NZ).
