The Southern District Health Board is organising free one-day smokefree seminars. The purpose of the seminars is to re-energise the local smokefree sector, support those working in the community and inform new and interested people about the goal to achieve a smokefree nation by 2025; in which 95 % of the population will be smokefree.
Top keynote speakers have been confirmed:
Tribal affiliations to Ngāi Tāmanuhiri, Rongowhakaata, Ngāti Kahungunu. Has been involved in public health internationally, nationally and regionally for 16 years. Advocated for the Māori Affairs Select Committee Inquiry on the Tobacco Industry
Health Promotion and IT Manager for the Cancer Society in Canterbury and the West Coast. His main interests are in tobacco control, especially relating to local authorities, as well as health disparities in general.

Dr Mark Wallace-Bell
Director of Behaviour Change Consulting Ltd. Works with National Heart Foundation to provide smoking cessation training. Member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers.
